Overview

What went wrong?

Naturally our bodies would expend energy to make sure the stress doesn't build up but that isn't the case these days. The main difference from back then to now is the ubiquity of stressors. Back then the primary stressors were charging elephants or going for the kill when it came to hunting which were not only seldom occurring but also allows us to reduce or "normalize" stress levels by expending energy.

Now our stress comes from work, family, and political issues among other things and can be found everywhere. Most would rather just take it all in as expending energy is no longer taken as the immediate response. Without a proper physical stress outlet such as exercise, the level of stress builds up together with its effects on the body. This is why those who are over stressed are always found to have symptoms of rapid heart rate, high blood pressure, and excessive shallow breathing. These people will also exhibit over sensitivity or aggressiveness as they don't have any means of releasing stress.

These symptoms would then lead to all sorts of diseases we know today such as:

  • Heart disease
  • Asthma
  • Obesity
  • Diabetes
  • Headaches
  • Depression
  • Stomach problems
  • Alzheimer's disease
  • Accelerated aging
  • Premature death

How do I know if I'm too stressed?

Stress is a normal occurrence but being too stressed isn't. Here are the telltale signs of being too stressed:

  • You're always sick
  • Lack of concentration
  • Headaches never go away
  • Back/Neck always hurts
  • You have difficulty sleeping
  • Rapid hair loss
  • You have symptoms of UTI
  • Negative outlook in life
